2004-06-25 - 8:00 a.m. It's Friday. I'm at home. I'm having a glorious wonderful day off. It's not really a day off, but it is a day at home "working." The truth is that there is indeed work to be done, but I can do none of it. It's an incredibly frustrating situation...we've just packed up our working lives to be moved to another office, and then, starting Monday, I have an extra five-minute jaunt to work now, as I'll have to make sure to leave myself that much more time. It's OK. I think I can manage that. In other news, I'm hoping to do a brick workout today, but I'm finding that I simply cannot motivate myself to swim in a lake all by myself. Originally Kristin was going to come up, but she's had a pretty rough few weeks and has opted to just cool her heels in the city this weekend. I'm totally okay with that, except I really wanted to swim in a lake this weekend. Phooey. The fog looks like it's burning off. I'm having a bitch of a time keeping the apartment cool. Still, it's nice to be at home. Today I may just have to make all those corrections on Nobody that have been sitting on my desk. In other news, I have just purchased this sweet little beauty for myself. Is she not gorgeous? Yes, I think the answer might be that she flat-out is. Now she needs a name. Suggestions are welcome. I have to confess that I will be sad to let go of my little sturdy workhouse of a Trek 1220, which has been with me since 1997, and has tolerated my fat butt for well over 10,000 miles. It probably has closer to 20,000 miles on it. We've had a long and storied history, that bicycle and I do, and it doesn't even have a name! I have just returned from pumping up Jim's rear right tire by hand. It was actually quite a good workout. I'm going to have to watch that tire...it has a slow leak in it... Jim is in China at the moment. I hope he remembers not to call me at work. Those phones don't work. My nails are a mess. I know that sounds as stupid as it looks, especially for someone who has such a clumsy lifestyle, but you know, I do try. The truth is that they looks great until I get into a pool more than twice. Then they start peeling no matter now many coats of polish I have on them. Also, since I've typed with my fingertips for so long,...well, you get the idea. Anyway, it's past eight. Closer to 8:30 now, and I guess I'd better get moving. I'm headed of to the Adirondacks tomorrow to support Team ARFE, so I've got a fat lot to do. Shouts out to my championship team of Ryan Brackley, Chris Rice, and Mike Sarnowski. Can't wait to see them race.
