Dude. DUUUUUUDe. Yep, I am about *that* brilliant today. I am absolutely exhausted, for some weird reason...oh RIGHT! I got home at two this morning! Hunh! Anyway. Actually, it was a very worthwhile evening out. I got to see Kevin Lee, who I've known since I was like eight but who I haven't really seen since we graduated from high school, so that was fun. And I also got to see Alan and Eric, so I'm very happy with that. Kevin was funny. We had a lovely time "catching up" over cocktails at the B Bar. Now, the thing is, I realized last night that people's definitions of catching up may differ. I'm of the opinion that, if you spend time with someone sitting over drinks and chatting with them and just in general getting to know them again, the details don't so much matter. Like, I'm perfectly okay with the fact that the only thing I know about Kevin from last night is that he thinks that LA Asian girls are hotter than New York Asian girls, that he drinks Pinot Noir, and smokes Marlboro lights. Like, I think that's good information to have. I also know that he can be a pushy conversationalist, and that he is very impressed with his friend Ray for picking out a nice Hugo Boss tie for him. (It *was* a lovely tie--deep, deep, chocolate brown and a nice, very light blue. Gorgeous.) But you see, that's a very important thing to know. And things come out in ordinary conversation that wouldn't otherwise come out in "catching up" conversation, you know? Anyway. I spent yesterday doing some copy-editing work, which made me moderately happy. What was supposed to have been three days of copy-editing work turned out to be barely even a day's worth because the magazine couldn't get their act together on time, but oh well. There will be others, since I think they liked me and I did a decently speedy job on this one. Anyway. So AARP has been busy screwing me over. They paid me, realized they made a mistake, and then actually took away the payment. What a bunch of butt-munchers. Excuse the vulgar term, but I am royally peeved. I mean, royally. I paid my bills based on that check being in the account. They owe me money anyway. AND they won't close out my 401(k) account until they finish paying me, so I'm just screwed, becaue I can't have my financial advisor play with my money. God! How irritating is *that*? Oi I hate them. Sigh. New Year's was a blast, did I mention that? I can't remember if I've written or not and now I'm too lazy to go check. This past weekend we went up to Boston to visit Margaret, and had a grand old time at a very very cool and extremely well curated Art Deco exhibit. I was mentally swooning in joy. There is nothing quite like the opulence and sheer lust for luxury of that period. Gorgeous artwork. They had a Lempicka, which is right for the period, and definitely indicative, but they had no Klimts whatsoever, and didn't even address the Wiener Wertstatte, which I found to be very very odd. Oh well. What else? This weekend is the first-ever Divas GearCheck weekend. I am very very excited to get away with the girls and have a great time. The Reluctant Divas have got a trainer, by the way. His name is Scott Duprex and he rocks. Very very cool. And a marked departure from my usual habit of not wanting to use a trainer whatsoever. I think that maybe as I age I'm beginning to realize what my realistic limits are. My limits are that I am too scattered and confused to actually have a workout schedule by myself. Ha! Ha! Ha! Erm. What else? There was something else... Uh. I guess I should close here, since I have no idea what I'm trying to remember.
