There is something wrong with my Diaryland. I can't get it to let me log in.
Very very strange.
Anyway. I can't remember if I noted this before, but I am quite happy with the way the whole GearCheck weekend came out. The truth is, threre was so much more happy stuff to be said for the whole weekend than there was sad unhappy stuff, and so must be much happier about such things.
I am working off the laptop that AARP gave me when I left. They donated it to ARFE.
I've always liked this computer. Also, finally opening it gave me the added benefit of feeling another little rush of joy that I don't work there anymore. It was like, "a HA! I can IM to my heart's content on this pooter and not worry about my boss popping her head in the make some horrible criticism, even if I am IMing clients!"
Um. In two minutes I am getting ready to go to the city to swim and to meet Julia Stires (!) for lunch. I have not seen Julia in many many years, it feels like, but she was one of my closest friends to date. I do mean in all my life. We had a brief, very intense, best-friendship. Sometimes these flashes in the pan do not survive distance. Our didn't. Perhaps we are older and more mature now.
There is something to be said for the fact that, in the split second before her voice came on the line on my voicemail, I knew it'd be her. Creepy, even. I thought to myself, "My God, it's Julia."
Eeeee.
Off to the Met now to meet her for lunch.
