TODAY IS FEBRUARY 1!!! That means a paltry 42 days left until Puppy Day. Provided, of course, that our wonderful landlord Gary doesn't have anything untoward to say about it. I'm sure he'll agree. He likes us. And we like him. And anyway, Chester lived in the upstairs apartment (Chester's the adorable baby Dachshund), so I think it should be OK. At the very least I will have learned what it feels like to keep a vaguely uncluttered apartment. I mean, there are still things strewn about here and there, but I'm considerably more concious about it. Except for yesterday, when I had a fit of panic about the article that's due in a very short while from now. So now there is a big spread of papers all over the floor and not much I can do about it. What I do need to do is actually get a proper desk. Right now I'm working off an old butcher block table, which I love, but which has not drawers and is a little too wide top to bottom to be an effective desk. Or maybe it would be more effective if I got some drawers. And got rid of some of the pens I never use which are sitting in flowerpots on my desk. Hmmm. I also have two laptops on it. One that I poached from work, the other is my Mac. Which I think I will pass on to Alana for ARFE work. So maybe there is a clear desk in the near future. God, I can't wait until this article gets off my desk. I have to do a good job on it, because I think this magazine will be a good thing for me. It's straightforward reporting, which I haven't done in about forever. I think it'll be OK, though.
