Of course I would have written an enormous entry only to have it eaten when I went to open another web page for reference! Just another reason I'm leaving AOL. Geeeez.
Well, it was primarily about a terrifying dream I just had in which I lost Jim to an enormous tidal wave (we weren't together at the time the wave hit, so there's no heart-wrenching scene in which we're torn from each other's arms, but at the point at which I woke up I still hadn't found him.) There is falling from heights and saving myself with the aid of a fat man on which I landed and there is also being treated with golden affection by the director of the event that we were attending, presumably some sort of adventure race, although the race was over and we were just building a vacation around it, I think--and then there was the presence of DTM ("dead to me," for those of you who haven't spoken to me lately) and some brief thought as to whether DTM would greet me (she was only briefly missing when we took the tally of the people who had survived and were missing) nicely and then a weird brush-off in my own brain where I thought, ah, who cares? Goodness.
Anyway, Jim is in Wisconsin this weekend for his grandma's 80th birthday party, isn't that nice? My boy is such a good grandson. :)
I've felt very lucky these past few days. We had a nice little party for Christine Merklinger on Friday night. The poor girl went to New Zealand to visit a boy and ended up falling off her mountain bike and onto her *face*, and it's just very scary because you can see the scar that runs right over her eye. Boy, if she wasn't wearing her eyeglasses, we would be having a very different type of get-together. Anyway, it was Christine's 30th birthday party, and we had loads of fun getting to actually sit down and talk to Lauren for once, instead of having to rush past her after one of her performances. Jim's friends Scott and Nicole are coming into town on Wednesday with some other people and I think that maybe we will all get together and have a good ol' time, Christine and Lauren included and I hope we can get Alana out there too.
My workout schedule next week looks like hell, though. Scott is trying to "load me up" before I go on the road to go to Florida. Speaking of which, I need to get those greeting cards made up so we can drive on out of here with no real problems.
Sigh. I'm looking forward to a trip to Florida. I think it'll be loads of fun to be there with Jim and the rest of Team ARFE, except I'm a little freaked out now with that stupid tidal wave dream.
Also, we'll be staying at the Best Western Weeki Wachee (oh how I love Florida names!) and be able to see the nation's only remaining live mermaid show! Oh boy! What a truly wonderful Valentine's day!
We are 20 days into puppy-prep period. We are a third of the way through!
Dude. "Fried Green Tomatoes" is on the tube. They always play the best movies on Sunday mornings. I love that movie so much.
Hey. Maybe Idgie would be a good name for a dog. Afte the heroine in "Fried Green Tomatoes." Hmmm.
Which brings me to something very very funny. So lately I've been conferring with friends about the validity of "Polyp" as a name. I know, it's horrible, but, as I say, there *are* benign polyps out there.
Anyway, Lauren said something that just about made me pee in my pants. She said, "Oh no. Not Polyp. Unless, of course, it's *Jackson* Polyp."
Yes, yes, I was rolling in the aisles too.
