Yargh. Yargh, I say. Perhaps I really am a repressed pirate, and, ex-boyfriend's questions or not, I ought to have worn out the sash that I had tied around my waist on Saturday night. It was a big maroon satin sash, and as I meandered around the house in it, I felt quite flouncy and kinda lame and very far away from myself, actually. So I removed it. But--I say, Yargh. Hmmm. Nice trip to Boston with the girls. Me and Kate and Maureen went up for various reasons, and I was pleased to see that my love for that city has not diminished. I also was shocked to discover that the ex-boyfriend has backed off a little from his previous dislike of "the city across the river"--Cambridge--and we passed a lovely evening in the company of friends at a little bar called Grafton Street. Which, I thought, was on the Boston side of the Charles, and not on the Cambridge side of things. Grafton Street itself, I mean. Alright. Anyway. So it was a nice weekend. Nice to spend time with the girls. Nice to be there; nice to have folks to chat with when all was said and done and we were crashed at home trying to recuperate. Hmmm. Right now I'm tapping away on my brand spanking-new Dell OptiPlex. I like it a lot. It is quiet and leeeetle and responds well when patted, and that, we know, is all that matters. Speaking of which. Jim and I were all excited for a new pup on Saturday but the breeder reneged on us. So we have to go about four hours further north in order to be able to pick up a better--and even sweeter--pup from a better--and even sweeter--breeder. Can't complain. Still, I dripped a few tears this morning when I found we'd been gypped out of little Sprocket. (I have abandoned the concept of Nozzle *or* Polyp. Much to the relief of some.) In writing news, I have finally put away that article for Consumer's Digest and am hoping for a check soon. Speaking of which, people still owe me money. The amazing thing is that this is McGraw-Hill we're talking about, and wouldn't you think that they'd want to, you know, get a grip and pay me? We're not talking about a lot of money here. Really! Goodness. What we *are* talking about is money that is over a month overdue for work that was done in JANUARY. This is getting ridiculous. This week I am having dinner with Sara and dinner with Charlotte. I have been thinking that I need to curb my spending. And Scott says I need to curb my boozing and my late nights. I fully agree. Still, it's hard. I'm so fricken popular, you know. Erg. I am headed to London in May with Christine. I'm very excited, mostly because we are going to get to see Will perform while he's there, and I'll get to meet little Baby T2, and then I'll also get to hang out with Christine and meet Mark Hudson, with whom I've corresponded off and on for over a decade but never met; and I'll also also maybe maybe get to hang out with Lauren. This is all very good. Having a pup does throw a spanner in the works; fortunately, we have lots of good neighbors and we'd like for an excuse to meet them and so this pup is a good excuse. I'm afraid to say any more; I jinxed it over the weekend when I told all my pals we were getting a pup April 2nd and then it turned out that we got a bad breeder and ohOH I am ever so tired of thinking about it. Bah. Anyway. Okay. Onwards and forwards. Gotta go fill out the Divas in the Dirt web log now (http://www.livejournal.com/users/divasinthedirt) Yes, I *am* too tired to fill out web links.
